Who is to be blamed?

I can’t imagine the real factors that cause the students to cut classes and stay out of the classroom roaming around the school premises. Others stay at the canteen but not eating, at the library but not reading nor studying, some under the shades of tress setting on the benches. Why these students prefer this actuation than to participate in the class discussions and interact with classmates in group activities?

By chance I talked to some of these students and they have different reasons. Some said they don’t have assignments and they are ashamed to be punished in front of their classmates. Others said their instructor is boring. Some said they’re not able to bring materials, and instruments to be used in their activity. Others said their friends invite them not to attend class in other words they intentionally don’t attended classes, the worst of all.

Are all these reasons are teacher or learner factor or family, peer influence, community, economic, social negligence? These things must be looked and attended upon because it is the future of this generation and its competitiveness is at stake. Some of those reasons are common to a high school student and others are quite alarming.

Those students that don’t attend classes because of non assignment sometimes are unacceptable. Students have enough time to do this task and punishment will never happen. Ashamed to be punished in front of their classmates is a common behavior of a high school student. This is a crucial stage is behavioral transformation from childhood to adolescence.

Those who have said they’re not able to bring materials and instruments to be used in their activity must put into consideration. Not all of the students are capable of immediately acquiring the requirements given by the teachers. Most parents who sent their children to public school are daily wage earner. They don’t have a fixed family income. Therefore, they are not financially stable. Teachers must be considerate enough to this matter and give alternative activity for those students so that they won’t go round and round the school campus. Pay attention education authorities.

The worst of all, are those who are just invited by friends not to attend classes and intentionally don’t attended classes. The role of teacher adviser and parents is badly in need in this particular situation. They must keep in touch most of the time updating the behavior of their students. The school administrators, guidance counselors, and other concern groups must find some appropriate solutions or programs with regards to this problem. In this scenario comes fraternities and others organizations that misleads the students. Thus, most of these students didn’t finished high school and became society’s delinquents. Once this happen, who is to be blamed?

Drafting: The Field of Positive Thinking

This badge symbolizes strength, productivity, patience,
integrity. Designed by The Walking Grass

Sometimes, I can’t help myself but laugh to both teachers and students saying taking Drafting as an elective subject is risking a possible high grade if you take like computer or journalism. It's true, because Drafting is the foundation to the studies of engineering and architecture. It includes not only writing and reasoning but of critical analyzes in solving practical problems applicable to actual setting. However, difficulty is only a negative thinking that lies in the mind that automatically obstruct in the formation of strong personality. It is a character that tends to block the gateway to success to whatever endeavor an individual wishes to undergo.

A misconception and lack of understanding always lead to regrets and ultimately frustration. Drafting is enjoyable as chewing cashew nuts which is not only delicious but beneficial to the brain. It’s cool as singing the worldwide popular birthday song, effortless as writing the letters of alphabet, as easy walking leisurely with a loved one in the park under the shades of trees. Setting this kind of mindset, Drafting will be a field of everyday challenge to the enthusiasts wishing to explore the wonders of technical and applied arts.

As I farther study the course, I discovered three simple and easy ways to make Drafting enjoyable. First, follow the step by step instructions. Second, ask question to dubious things and directions. Third, use appropriate tools and instruments. Once these simple ways are practiced, difficulties and doubts will disappear. What makes this area of interest different is that, it is full income generating activities quietly good advantage for student who could not pursue college.

Teaching Drafting is preparing technically, professionally, socially, emotionally, mentally, and physically the coming generation. It is an opportunity granted to few.

The Goal:

The Drafting Technology, area of the Technology and Livelihood Education Department, is highly motivated to produce a productive and dynamic citizen that could easily response to the needs of the changing society, professionally and technically equipped with skills and values, responsible and cooperative to the programs initiated for the national interest.

Group of Intellectuals

This Zeal of Dedication and Camaraderie was conceptualized and designed
by the faculty president, Michael Pamplina, accepted and approved by its
Board of Directors and the faculty members.

The faculty is the light that guides the students to whatever they may be in the future. They are the sole responsible to educational preparation of the students before they enter to the broader range of responsibility of being a citizen of the land. Skills, values, and technical know-how are carefully and thoroughly inculcated by these professionals from day one until the last day of their schooling. They convene and discuss all possible innovations for a better teaching-learning classroom atmosphere. And especial of all, they give their utmost love in the formation of versatile personality of the student like their own children. Sta. Lucia High School Faculty though they came from different ethnic groups, personal beliefs and orientations, and political will, stands to these principles. Sometimes, unexpectedly, conflicts and hated arguments occur because of pride and if not personal or professional identity crisis. This hated arguments mostly came from simple things that if only treated with an open mind and wide understanding will never happened. But, once this group of intellectuals are at edge of intrigues and controversies, most specially intended to tarnished their reputation and dignity and it came from the outside of the school campus, they rise up to fight and defend these only wealth.

Its a wonderful feeling and great experience to grow professionally with the Sta. Lucia High School Faculty.
